Foxfire 9: General Stores, the Jud Newson Wagon, a Praying Rock, a Catawba Indian Potter--And Hant Tales, Quilting, Home Cures, and Log Cabins Revis
Published in Paperback by Anchor (17 October, 1986)
Authors: Eliot Wigginton and Margie Bennett
Average review score:

Informative and timeless
I bought the book because it has one of the best sections on fire pit firing of homemade pottery that I have seen, complete with excellent photos, as well as step by step info and historical info. The section on Quilting - The Joy Of My Life - Auntie Arie Carpenter is extensive and even has templates you can copy and use for making your own quilts. There is also a wonderful section on the country store, which as I read it seemed to be a combination of pay with cash or goods, like eggs, crops etc. Very worth the expense and a book I will treasure.

Outstanding
The entire Fox Fire colledtion should be required reading for all people of this country. You would get a feel for where we came from and our heritage. The books show a deep respect for each other, God and country. Very good.

The French Wars of Religion: Selected Documents (Documents in History Series)
Published in Hardcover by Palgrave Macmillan (January, 1998)
Author: David Potter
Average review score:

Not for experts only
The author has translated the key French texts of the period into modern English (and thankfully removed some of the annoying flowery language of the time). Texts are grouped into chronological periods and each period has a lucid introduction summarizing the events of the period.
This book is intended for those who really want to DIG into the period.

Fun Stuff Holiday (Hear We Go Kids)
Published in Hardcover by Hear We Go Kids (September, 1995)
Authors: Brian Potter, Wayne Green, and Kevin Hawkes
Average review score:

Some of the finest kids' songwriting found anywhere
If children's recordings were cars, the Hear We Go Kids book and tape series would be a fleet of Cadillacs: big, luxurious productions, tastefully appointed and sumptuously upholstered. Lyricist Brian Potter and composer Wayne Green exhibit some of the finest kids'songwriting found anywhere. Noted children's illustrators Kevin Hawkes and artist Rosekrans Hoffman serve up a feast for the eyes in the lyric books for Fun Stuff Holiday and Another New Day, respectively. A mix of lushly produced musical styles, including pop, country, and Celtic, further distinguishes this handsome, must-own collection.

Ghost Wings
Published in Hardcover by Chronicle Books (May, 2001)
Authors: Barbara M. Joosse and Giselle Potter
Average review score:

Beautiful story and illustrations
This book takes the reader into the beautiful world of Mexican culture through a sweet story and amazing illustrations. I read Ghost Wings to a first grade art class and they really enjoyed learning about Los Dias de los Muertos and how the little girl in the story participated in the festivities. The full page illustrations perfectly bring the poetic story to life. At the end of the book there are some interesting projects and ideas that can be done with children. There is also a helpful explaination section, full of details about the Day of the Dead holiday and Mexican culture. I think every children's library should have a copy of this book.

Gilded Vessel: The Lustrous Life and Art of Beatrice Wood

Authors: Garth Clark and Beatrice Wood

A Truly Beautiful Life
THE GILTED VESSEL is a beautiful book about an amazing woman and potter. Her life is more wonderful than any fiction and her pottery is exquisite. The only flaw is that it is too short; I want more.

Girl, You're Amazing!

Authors: Virginia Kroll, Virginia L. Kroll, Melisande Potter, and Melisande Potter-Hall

Wow! My 4 year old and I are entranced and empowered!
I got this book out of the library yesterday and read it to my daughter. We both loved it. And to cap it off, the book ends with a lyrical listing of girls' names. My daughter, who has an unusual name, literally screamed with joy to see her name in a book for the first time. "I want to keep this book forever and ever," she told me so I am here on the site today buying her her own copy. Highly recommended. Julie.

Great American Railroad Stations
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (May, 1996)
Author: Janet Greenstein Potter
Average review score:

A must have supplement for any railfan library.
Complete with brief, but detailed history and current uses for stations throughout the country, this tome is a must for any railfan to enjoys seeking out the train depots in cities along the path of his vacation route. Though by no means comprehensive (about 10 to 12 depots are listed for most states; Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio each have dozens, many of which are in excellent condition.), the book is nevertheless tremendously useful. In addition, one should consider Halberstadt & Halberstadt's "The American Train Depot & Roundhouse" and Ward's "Southern Railway Depots, Vol. 1 & 2. The out of print Alexander's "Down At The Depot" should be sought out as well

Absolutely Wonderful!
This book is probably one of the most informative handbooks any potter can own. This book covers every area in the field. There are inventive, useful, practical, and economical tips for every question you've ever had. Even if you don't have any specific questions, this book will sure give you some ideas that will keep those creative juices flowing at an insane rate. This is a LIFETIME book. The only reason you will ever get another copy is because you WILL keep coming back for more and more ideas until all the pages are covered in clay!
